Russell Goulbourne is Professor of Early Modern French Literature at the University of Leeds. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Complete Works of Voltaire, published by the Voltaire Foundation at the University of Oxford. His research has focused largely on seventeenth- and eighteenth-century French drama, though he is also interested in literary translation and reception studies. His major publications include Voltaire Comic Dramatist (Oxford, Voltaire Foundation, 2006) and a translation of Diderot’s La Religieuse (The Nun, Oxford World’s Classics, 2005). He is currently working on a book on the reception of the ancient Roman poet Horace in eighteenth-century France and a new translation of Rousseau’s Rêveries du promeneur solitaire for Oxford World’s Classics.
